Joanne Rempel
Owner, Senior Stylist
Eufora Educator
Joanne Rempel is an award-winning business woman, stylist, educator and mentor who brings more than 30 years experience to her salon. When Joanne purchased Colors in 2003, she wanted to create a work environment that promotes wellness, and nurtures inner and outer beauty. Her commitment to excellence and vision for change has carved out a vibrant and vital space that transforms the salon experience. "Our outward appearance is a reflection of our inner well-being and attitude," says Joanne. "True beauty is a celebration of both."
In 2006, she was a finalist for the Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Excellence in Service category, and she continues to enhance core services with benefits such as therapeutic massage, aromatherapy and reflexology.
Courtney Schrof
Salon and Guest Relations Manager
Courtney Schrof wanted to go into the health care field because of her desire to make people feel better. When her mother purchased Colors in April 2003 and persuaded her daughter to temporarily run the front desk, a whole new world of opportunity unfolded and by December Courtney had become full time salon manager.
Behind the lovable face and effervescent personality is a woman with a mission, managing and scheduling staff, booking clients and special events and ordering the high performance products used in the salon. Courtney loves the company's green philosophy and the opportunity to create a wonderful customer experience. "We have seniors who arrive 30 minutes ahead of schedule for their Friday morning appointments," she smiles, "just because they like to come here and visit over coffee."
Krista Moroz
Master Stylist
When Krista Moroz was a little girl playing hairdresser in her aunt's basement salon, she remembers one golden rule…don't touch the scissors! Ironically, the once forbidden fruits have become the tools of her trade and childhood play has become a career.
Krista joined the Colors family at its inception in 2003. As Master Stylist she provides a variety of services for men, women and children from wash and blow dry to cutting-edge cuts and colors.
She graduated from Winnipeg Technical College in 2000 but she broke into the business at the age of 13, assisting her aunt, Joanne Rempel, in local salons. Over the years, that mentorship has offered valuable lessons, including learning the importance of an optimistic attitude, creative thinking and positive client interaction.
Colleen Lamirande
Stylist
Whether you're a bride-to-be or a Boomer re-entering the work force, Colleen Lamirande leaves clients feeling beautiful inside and out. After studying business in university and five year stint in retail, she rekindled an old flame for the beauty industry and graduated from Capelli Academy. "When I was younger, I worked as a Saturday assistant in a hair salon for three years," says Colleen, who wanted to resume the creative pleasure of working with her hands.
She joined the Colors' family in the summer of 2010, and provides a variety of services for men and women from blow dry and styling to interpreting the latest trends in cuts and colors.
Colleen uses hair as a tool for transformation but she acknowledges that it's not just the clients who leave feeling fulfilled. "One of my favourite things is the look on a client's face when I show them how nice they can look by changing their hair style. It's a great feeling for me, too."

Melissa Brick
Hair Designer
Melissa Brick is no stranger to the hair industry. Her aunt and her sister are both in the business so when it came time to choosing a career, Melissa knew exactly what she wanted to do. She was only 14 when she started as her aunt's assistant at a local salon and by the time she graduated from high school she had received her hair dressing license from Winnipeg South Technical School. Now, with 3,000 hours of apprenticeship behind her, she's able to apply her talents and her creativity in an industry that she views as full of potential and growth.
"I see people becoming more adventurous with styles and color," says Melissa, who serves a variety of clients but loves the challenges of edgy, inspired colors and cuts. As trends change and the appetite for diverse styles increases, Melissa will be ready and waiting, eager to create the next generation of great hair.
Monique DeGagne
Stylist
Monique Degagne was immersed in the financial world before she switched careers and pursued her long-time dream of working in hair design. "It's something I've always wanted to do," says the graduate of the Capelli Hair Academy who joined Colors in January 2011.
With a solid background in customer service, Monique believes that the salon's commitment to clients makes it the perfect place for her to hone her craft and build her career. "The basics of good service are the same no matter what the industry," she says. "People want professionalism, confidence, product knowledge and good communication skills."
She also notes that while clients are becoming more knowledgeable about choosing professional products to duplicate their styles at home, there's nothing like the salon experience to make you feel pampered. "Colors is very inviting," she says. "Clients leave feeling great."
